After interviewing five potential contractors, we chose Hossini Homes for our whole house remodel because they seemed to best understand our needs and approach to the project. We knew what we wanted and intended to be very involved and they seemed to be receptive to that. It turned out to be a very productive collaboration and we are very pleased with the final results. The house, built in the 1960’s, had been in the family for over 50 years and we wanted to keep some of the original features while modernizing the remainder. They understood this and were good at evaluating the structural integrity of the house and recommending what could be kept and what needed to be replaced, and how best to integrate the old and new for a seamless appearance. Elizabeth was a great sounding board for our design ideas, providing support and good suggestions. For those without a strong vision she would provide more ideas and guidance through the process. We did the whole house remodel in two phases so we could live on-site during the work. The first smaller phase (one bedroom and bathroom) went pretty much as planned and we were thrilled to moved back into the renovated space before the larger, rest-of-the-house part began.

As with any large project, things took much longer than planned (most of the delays were completely beyond their control). Some of the frustration of taking longer than expected could have been alleviated if we’d been given a longer estimate rather than the most optimistic time frame (just double the best-case scenario and you won’t be disappointed if everything goes perfectly and is completed earlier). But when glitches did happen Sohail and Elizabeth were quick to apologize, come up with solutions or alternatives to keep the project on track. Most notable was when a freak summer rain leaked into the house when the patio roof was off (the roofing subcontractors didn’t feel the need to cover the roof over the weekend) and Sohail was there within an hour on a Sunday evening to cut out soggy drywall and pull up the newly installed floor to dry things out. On the very few occasions something was done differently than we’d asked, it was fixed without question. The quality of their work was excellent and their attention to detail was evident in the finished product. Sohail and Elizabeth take pride in the professionalism of their interaction with their clients, and this was evident in the subcontractors that they chose to work on our remodel. Most were pleasant, professional, and efficient and did quality work. There were a couple of subcontractors that, from our perspective, clearly didn’t live up to the normal standards of Hossini Homes. Sohail and Elizabeth were appreciative of our feedback and seemed determined to find subcontractors that would better reflect their high standards.

If you’ve never been through a major remodel before, be aware that unexpected issues will arise. One measure of a good contractor is how well they deal with those problems. We felt that Hossini Homes did as well as they possibly could in quickly addressing and resolving the issues as they came up. We would highly recommend Hossini Homes for any renovation projects, large or small.
